A day in the life of Account Manager Dave Fleming

I’ve been an Account Manager at Vista Retail Support for four years but have been in the retail industry for all my working life – more than 22 years. As I have a lot of experience and have worked across a variety of areas of the business, people often come to me for advice, but it’s important that I always put my customers first.

I work from home, which is in Northamptonshire and this is a great central location to get to my clients who are based far and wide across the UK. My working day normally begins between 8-8.30am depending on how easy to get my two daughters off to school who are aged 10 and 6.

The working month is usually a mixed bag. At the start of the month, I like to go through all the call logs and get round to see my clients to see how the previous month has been for them and to iron out any issues that may have arisen.

After this, it’s fairly varied. I do tend to continue to do a lot of travelling and like to get to our head office in Cardiff to catch-up with the team. It’s a shame that good video conferencing hasn’t been developed yet as face-to-face meetings are the best way to catch up with customers, as you can’t resolve issues over the telephone.

The best thing about my job is quite simply the people, both my customers who I have built great working relationship with and those that I work with. I’m lucky to work with people who are very passionate about what they do, and it’s this passion which drives me to do the best I can on a day-to-day basis.

Once my day is finished, I like to relax by playing video games and once a fortnight I play cards with the boys. And of course I get a great deal of pleasure spending time with my family. All of these things help me unwind after a very hectic work schedule.
