Retailers often forget about their in-store technology until something goes wrong. By which time, getting it fixed is a serious concern. Here are a few tips to ensure your IT equipment is as free from risks as possible.
Starbucks one touch mobile payment app is expected to speed up transactions by 10 seconds each.
Starbucks will be the first to offer mobile payment app to UK and Ireland customers.
The one-touch mobile app will allow customers to purchase their morning or afternoon brew by paying with their iPhones and iPods at any one of 700 Starbucks coffee shops.
The move is in response to customer demands for a quick service and noticeable trends of card payments over cash.
Using the Starbucks for iPhone App it is expected to save approximately 10 seconds per transaction. Adding this across all Starbucks stores could make a colossal difference.
From the 5 January 2012, customers who have a registered Starbucks Card will be able to link the app to their card balance and make payments for their in-store purchases by scanning their unique barcode at the till.
Brian Waring, vp of Marketing & Category for Starbucks UK and Ireland said:
“Customers want to be served quickly, but fewer want to use cash. We wanted to find a way for them to pay in the quickest way possible. Because our customers want it, we have created our own custom-built mobile payment technology rather than waiting for the near field communication (NFC) technology which is currently not widely available. We’re always thinking of new ways to add value to our customers and give them more reasons to choose Starbucks."
The App was launched in early 2011 in 6,800 US Starbucks stores. Figures show that more than 20 million mobile payment transactions have been processed to date, proving it can be a great success.
Mobile payment is the latest digital innovation from Starbucks following the recent offering of free Wi-Fi in store and weekly iTunes downloads of music and books.
